Money, Money, Money

I've been so tired all week.  Why?  Because I got a promotion at work that I had applied for.  I told just a few select people that I had applied for it because quite frankly, I didn't think I would get it.  But when I walked into work on Monday, my boss pulled me aside to say that I had indeed got it!  I was so excited.  It is a lot more work and responsibility, but it is also an extra $600/month.  

I know I don't talk about money on my blog, but the truth is that I live paycheck to paycheck.  The cost of living in Hawaii is sky high.  I pay about $1400/month for rent and utilities and I have a one bedroom/one bathroom town house.  That doesn't include the amount I spend on groceries and cable/internet.  I have thought about moving back home.  My parents would love me to live with them, but that would mean zero privacy and definitely no more friends with benefits hook ups.  In the past, when I've weighed the pros and cons, I just can't justify moving back home. 

This promotion and extra money will help me a lot.  I feel like I have a lot more breathing room now and I might actually be able to save and work towards NOT living paycheck to paycheck.  But with the money comes a lot more responsibility.  On top of my work,  I am now also in charge of training the new employees.  It's okay though.  I feel very fortunate to get the promotion.  When my boss talked to me, he joked that I almost didn't get the position because of my "unauthorized vacation and trip to Wisconsin".  We both had a good laugh about that.

I know people say that money can't buy happiness.  I don't know that this money will make me happier.  But not having to worry about living to paycheck to paycheck comes as quite a relief to me.  I once read a report that said that people who made more money had better sex.  I don't know how true that is, but I wonder how much better my sex life will get now!  I can't wait to find out!  :)
